The ancient city of Rhodes
The main and most important city is, of course, the city of Rhodes in the northern part of the island. It was founded in 407 BC. and quickly became one of the most important ports in the region. It is one of the largest ancient cities in Europe, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Evidence of the city’s wealth in ancient times was the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, which does not exist today. A huge, over 30-meter-high statue of the god Helios was made of bronze and placed on a 10-meter plinth at the entrance to the harbor bay.
Other important monuments here include the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights, which now houses a museum, the defensive walls, the picturesque Street of the Knights of Rhodes, the Johannite Hospital – the seat of the Archaeological Museum, and the Mosque of Suleiman.

Rhodes Aquarium
The Sea Aquarium is one of the tourist attractions of the capital city of Rhodes and is located on the very northern tip of the Greek island of Rhodes. Rodini Park
If you get tired of the stone buildings of the city of Rhodes and want to enjoy greenery and a bit of nature, head to the park on the outskirts of the city, where small waterfalls and ponds are hidden, in the enclosures you can watch fallow deer and peacocks walking. You will definitely score points with your children by visiting this place. The animals can be fed at the Farma of Rhodes. At the entrance you can get a bag for the ostriches or bags of vegetables for the other animals. The main attraction here are the already mentioned ostriches, but we can also find other animals here – camels, llamas, donkeys, pigs and goats. The goats are in an enclosure where you can go inside to see them. At the end of the road there are still different types of poultry and birds. And also a restaurant and a shop with farm products.

Valley of butterflies Petaloudés
This is probably the most famous attraction of the island of Rhodes. Here, you can admire unique butterflies in their natural environment among beautiful greenery. Park for free at the bottom of the valley, and you can start enjoying yourself. Upstairs you can have refreshments. The way back follows the same route. As the route is partly up stairs, it is not suitable for taking a pram here. The butterflies are in the valley until it gets cold and it starts raining, which is said to be in October.

This is a place that is definitely worth visiting. If you drive by, don’t hesitate to stop here. It’s like going back in time. There are old toys, games, cameras, televisions, and much more.
